ASL Primary Song - I Know that my Savior Loves Me

It's Primary Program Season! To celebrate, this is one of the songs that the kids have been learning this year. You may notice a few word/structure changes. Her signing is very clear. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to download this video and add the captioning myself.

ASL Song - Do You Remember? {Jack Johnson}

I'll end my postings for tonight with one last song. I am a huge Jack Johnson fan so of course I love learning the signs for this song. The other really great and helpful thing about this video is that in the captioning he has the actual translation of his signs. This is so so helpful as often in lyrics and spoken words the meaning of the message is better conveyed by using different words. And then you don't have to guess which words/signs he is using.

So make sure you have the captioning on and the advertisements closed.

Numbers 1-20

Alright, no catchy tune with this video but this Rob Nielson guy makes it so clear exactly how to (and NOT to) sign numbers. As it turns out I've been signing some of mine wrong! I'm glad he has set me straight and with his help we'll all be able to sign 1-20 perfectly.

ABC Song

Okay so I hope this video clears up any questions we have on our alphabet letters and how they are formed. In this video the letter D is a little hard to tell the shape of, but between the two videos I'm sure you'll have your alphabet figured out quickly and some catchy tunes stuck in your head as well.

The Alphabet Song

This first post goes out to my little friend Miss M. 

Without her I wouldn't know that this fun alphabet song even existed. 

Learning the alphabet is fundamental to learning sign language because so many signs use an alphabet letter a part of the sign. For example, remembering that the sign for 'family' will be much easier if you recognize that the sign is made while the hands are making the letter 'F'.

My only criticism of this particular video is that a few of the signs are hard to see (J, O, P, Q and X) and I am pretty sure that they are signing the letter K wrong. Oh well, I'll post one more alphabet video and I am sure between the 2 we'll have some alphabet clarity!
